Topic 2:
Anger, a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure or hostility. Anger develops because of the lack of attention. Sometimes to release the anger in a positive way people clean the house, just like the book mentions. Aggression is the expression of anger that results in physical or emotional damage to people or property. Researchers want to know when anger results in aggression, research are looking into medication, genetic manipulation, societys, influence like television, sex differences.
Children that act independently but lack language and are denied what she/he wants will display anger and frustration. When this happens A calm adult support, they can assist in helping the child regain self-control and later use the opportunity as a teachable moment to explore alternative strategies for next time their goals are not achieved (Ann Nilsen,B., 2017, p. 145). By teachers being aware that there are four types of aggressive acts, teachers can address the action with an appropriate response.
Incidents of aggression and violence need to be met with immediate, nonaggressive consequences.
-Reducing access to possible victims
-Intervening early (before the onset of violent behavior)
-Classroom norms should be functional and realistic (rewording)
-In the classroom enhance cooperation and reduce competition
Topic 3:
Knowledge: Using Frequency Counts to look at emotional development. Frequency Counts can measure repeated actions of a child. This method can measure the times, circumstances, clues about the trigger intensity and duration of each event. By using Frequency, the goals of adults who work with children are to decrease antisocial behavior and increase prosocial behavior.
Skills: Have communication with parents and seek ways to help the child Frequency Count is a good method to use in order to have a record on the child’s emotional development.
Beliefs: Emotional Development is important in the life of any child and in any state of the child development. Social and emotional problems can affect the child, the other children, the family, and the teachers, and can be predictors of later physical and emotional and academic problems (Ann Nilsen,B., 2017, p. 163). Frequency Count can be the method that a teacher can rely to use for gathering important information on a frequently occurring behavior of a specific child.
