Description
Reflectively write 2-4 pages about life during the pandemic of 2020.
The Model for Reflective Thinking
Reflective writing is when the writer describes a real or imaginary scene, events, interactions, passing thoughts, or memories and then adds a personal reflection on its meaning. Many reflective writers keep in mind questions such as “What did I notice?”, “How has this changed me?” or “What might I have done differently?” when reflecting.
So, in reflective writing, the focus is on writing that is not merely descriptive. The writer mentally revisits the scene to reflect on meanings, lessons, to examine what went well, or reveal a need for additional research and learning, In other words, relate what you’re writing to the bigger picture.
According to many writing theorists, reflection is a way to question our personal experiences.
The more someone reflectively writes, the more likely they are to regularly reflect in their everyday life and challenge accepted practices.
Directions
Choose one set of questions to write about, or discuss any questions in any order:
What activities, hobbies, and experiences bring joy to your life? Why do you think these things bring joyfulness to your life? Try to discover why interacting with these things leads to joy? What do you have to do to maintain the connection between yourself and the things that are joyful for you?Who in your immediate circle most seems to need joy at this time? What can you do to bring some joy to their lives? What can you do to add to the joy you are already experiencing? What can you do to send joy to someone who is physically distant at this time? What opportunities did you embrace during the past year? Did you learn any new skills or things about yourself? Are there opportunities to be encouraging to friends, family, and neighbors? What does the future look like for you and how do you feel about it?
