Description

1) Epidemiology of COVID-19 (for example, look at studies of obesity and how they relate to COVID-19)

2) Public health response to COVID-19 (for example, examine different impacts of non-pharmaceutical interventions like stay-at home orders; or vaccine hesitancy among a particular group)

3) U.S. disparities in COVID-19 (for example, examine research on disparities in relation to COVID-19 outcomes OR the pandemic’s effects on racialized groups)

Your task will be to use public health or medical literature to discuss this issue and a potential solution to addressing this issue. Structure your work as follows:

1. ISSUE STATEMENT (10%):State the public health issue in response to COVID-19 that you will discuss.

2. DISCUSS EXISTING ACADEMIC LITERATURE(60%):Conduct research (using PUBMED or Google Scholar) to identifyat least 3 articles from the scholarly literature that discuss the issue you selected. Please use at least 3 academic journal articles from PUBMED or Google Scholar.  Please let me know if you need help doing the literature search.

Include citations and a reference list.

Summarize the literature with respect to the following:

(1) description of the purpose of the study/research

(2) study design, including how they evaluated their hypotheses or questions; (3) the study participants and their demographic characteristics

(4) main findings of the research

(5) recommendations made by the researchers for future research or policy recommendations (usually found in the discussion section).

3. SOLUTION RECOMMENDATION (20%):Finally, based on your work in steps 1-2 above and our class discussions, what recommendation(s) would you make to improve the issue and address any disparities. Use literature (academic or policy) to make recommendations; don’t rely solely on your own opinion.
