Description

In this assignment, you will write a 1500-1700 word crisis communication plan in response to the ongoing crisis depicted in the film Battle for the Trees, which is available on the course’s Moodle page. You will write from the perspective of a public relations professional hired by one of the organizations depicted in Battle for the Trees. You should draw your information about the values, stakeholders, challenges, and existing spokespeople of your organization primarily from the film, although you may also reference reputable sources. To show engagement with communication theories and strategies, and familiarity with crisis studies, you must make at least one (1) reference to our textbook, Ongoing Crisis Communication, and one (1) reference to a source taken from the bibliography of Ongoing Crisis Communication. This is an individual assignment and must be an original piece of writing.

Your crisis communication plan should consist of:

1. an introduction that outlines the key elements of your crisis response plan

2. a summary of the organization, its mission and values and its stakeholders

3. a description of ongoing communication objectives, strengths, challenges, and weaknesses

4. an argument for general strategies for response, and identification and justification of key channels for communication

5. an argument for adoption of specific tactics for crisis communication response

6. a short description of processes for evaluation and measurement, assessing strengths and weaknesses of your plan

7. a conclusion that revisits the key elements and benefits of your plan

8. a Reference List of all sources referenced in this paper, and supplemented by in-text citations in APA format. You may use a maximum of 10 sources, which must include 1 reference to Ongoing Crisis Communication and 1 reference to a source from the bibliography of Ongoing Crisis Communication. Your reference list is not included in your word count.

Remember that you are making an argument about the benefits of the adoption of your crisis plan. Why should this organization adopt your crisis communication plan, and not hire another firm or PR professional?
