Description

1. The seven individual kingdoms—the North (home to Winterfell), the Vale (home to The Eyrie), the Stormlands, the Reach, the Westerlands, the Iron Islands, and Dorne—are negotiating a free-trade area (FTA). The countries are negotiating a common tariff of 15% for products entering the FTA. A sticking point in the negotiation is that the Westerlands wants to have the ability to lower tariffs on certain products coming into its country to 5%. Furthermore, Stormland wants the ability to raise the tariffs on certain products coming into its country to 25%. First, discuss the benefits of these seven countries entering a free-trade agreement. Second, discuss the potential issues regarding the different tariffs being requested by Westerland and Stormland.
