Description
Try not to think that there is a simple and then and then line here…the discussion moves naturally around a series of issues and questions and tries to come at them from various angles. Try to listen to the whole thing all the way through first so as to get sense of the shape of the whole thing first… it will be very time consuming to go phrase by phrase copying down every word…. Think of it like a lecture where you have to listen to someone talking: you could not pause a lecturing professor… The idea is to help you practice build up your listening and note-taking skills. It will also strengthen your ability to synthesize large chunks of information as well as practice in eliminating some things and including other things. So please listen to the entire program and write a summary of the actual things that were discussed or talked about. Please include the specifics of the conversations otherwise you will be tempted to cut and paste some random stuff you found on witches which is NOT what we are looking for! Also do not waste time talking about Harry Potter or generalisations about “today’s modern society” That would get you an F… So just focus only on the program. There are three professors talking, as well as the host, Melvyn Bragg. You don’t really need to worry about who is saying what, just keep track of the overarching patterns and content of the discussion. If you happen to catch the speaker that is fine, if not just say “One of the speakers said ” XYZ”…. If you have the name then write ” Roper says that in Reformation Europe witches were….etc etc …” Always use last names Again, 4-5 pages is fine. Same requirements etc.. font size etc. DO NOT use outside sources, DO NOT use cut and pasted material in any assignments. See Plagiarism comments on the Syllabus. See Assignment One if you forgot.
