Various kinds of waste typically seen in manufacturing and service environments. The ability to identify and eliminate these wastes can boost productivity while increasing customer relations.

Following the review of the lecture and videos, please discuss the below questions. Each of this week’s materials addresses the various types of waste and provides tools for eliminating/avoiding it. After reviewing the different types of waste, determine which tools are most beneficial, and answer the following 4 questions.

Q1- What tools can your organization or a business you are familiar with apply to their operations in order to identify waste?

Q2- Discuss customer value/satisfaction and how it can improve through the incorporation of our lean studies.

Q3- Are there challenges to overcome when implementing lean initiatives?

Q4- What recommendations do you have to conquer these challenges?


Part B

Case Study: Guelph General Hospital

Let’s put your Lean Thinking concepts and principles to work in this week’s case study. Use the materials we studied this week to promote the Lean initiative at the General Hospital. In 1000-1200 words (5 pages) Excluding the cover and reference pages, answer the case study questions below to ensure success in the organization: How should Williams move forward?

Q1- How should she address those who were not supportive of GGHPIP?

Q2- What can she do to address potential turnover?

Q3- How can she voice an opinion in support of the new program?

Q4- Should she rearrange teams to become more effective and efficient? Why or why not?

Q5- Given the struggles of a newly implemented concept, should she just wait and see if the program improves? Why or why not?
