A. Resume Comparison Activity

Look at the sample resumes and answer the questions about them. In order to receive credit for this assignment, you must provide specific answers.

1. What information is at the top of each resume?

2. Look at the headings on each of the resumes. What is the same? What it different?

3. Look at the information under the “Education” heading in each resume. How is this information organized?

4. The headings after “Education” are different between the resumes. How is the organization of headings similar or different between the resumes?

5. Look at the information under the “Experience” section on Carina Career’s resume. What do you notice about the information in this section? Think about how this information is organized and the kind of information that is provided. Is the same kind of information provided in the other resumes?

6. What do you notice about the language used on the resumes? Give specific examples of things that stand out to you? What makes them stand out? How might the word choice influence the reader’s perspective?

7. What do you notice about the verb tenses used throughout the resumes?

8. What do you notice about the format of the resumes?

9. The sample resumes use different types of organization. Two are chronological, one is functional/skills, and one is combination. What is the focus of each of these different types of resumes? When should you use each type of structure?
