1a. Marks, Woolverton, and Garcia Coll (2020) reviewed research on risk and resilience in ethnic minority youth. They concluded that there are several underlying drivers of risk in marginalized populations of youth that are not present in White youth. Describe these underlying drivers of risk for marginalized youth and why they increase risk for marginalized youth?

b. Describe some of the ways noted by Marks et al. (2020) that foster resilience and/or increase the capacity of marginalized youth to adapt to discrimination.

2. Essay

2a. Choose two protective factors from the various articles we have read so far this semester

i. Describe why you think these two protective factors are important and would be highly effective in promoting resilience in at-risk children and youth

ii. Draw and cite the relevant results for these two protective factors that support your belief in their importance for promoting resilience

.b. Describe how you would promote the development of these two protective factors in an after-school program for at-risk children and youth.

i. Be specific and concrete – That is, describe the activities or experiences you would use to help promote the development of both of these protective factors

ii. Draw on, and cite, suggestions from the relevant articles or class lecture to support your decisions.
