Web of Science/Structure of a Journal Article
Pick a scientific journal that you are interested in reading. It should be a peer-reviewed journal that a Chemistry faculty member in any University (does not have to University of South Florida) has published in. Find and select one article in this journal relating to a topic you are interested in. The article MUST be published within the last 7 years. Note, you should use Web of Science to search for this journal and journal article. The article you choose should be in a peer-reviewed journal and not a review article.
Once you have the article, read it. This assignment emphasizes understanding the principal structure of a scientific journal article, including being able to identify an articles abstract, introduction, materials and methods, discussion, results and conclusion sections. While reading the article make sure you pay close attention to the abstract, specific aims, methods used, experiments, results and conclusion. Take notes as you are reading the article or highlight the important parts of the article. Then after you have read the article, think about it how you would interpret the article in your own words.
To complete the assignment, answer the below six questions (some are multipart of coursedid you expect mercy from me?).
As always, please conform to document margins and use a contrasting font/color to present your results. Please remember that I have to read > 80 assignments and, thus, need to have you conform to needed formats. Note that this is what you will encounter with journal editorsthey have to read huge amounts of material! In this modern era of rapid distribution of information, being precise and succinct in communicating cannot be over-emphasized!

1. a. What topic did you chose to do a search on, please list:
I chose to do a search on natural products and drug discovery.
1 b. Describe, in at least two sentences, how you did the search using Web of Science and how you confirmed the reference you chose was a peer-reviewed journal article and not a review article.
First of all, I decided the topic I want to search and used the Advanced search to look up for the topic and customize the year of publication. I confirmed the reference chosen is a peer reviewed journal article and not only reviewed by viewing the full article.

Yes or No. Then please in at least a paragraph why you think the abstract is or is not an adequate representation of the journal article. Please remember, that most people see the abstract before they choose to obtain the journal article. So it is important that the abstract is an adequate representation of the journal article.
