Description

  1. Stump the teacher: Post a technical question that applies to hazardous materials labeling or SDSs and let your classmates and instructor help you find the answer. This should not be a simple question but something that may require thought and interpretation like the questions below. (Some of you have already been asking these in class; please ask those!).
  2. If you have a very small bottle (no larger than 2 inches tall and 1 inch wide), do you have to provide the full label to the container? Explain your answer thoroughly, and cite any references.
  3. Do secondary containers (this is when you fill another container from a larger bulk container) have the same labeling requirements as the primary container? Explain your answer thoroughly, and cite any references.
  4. If a manufacturer ships a container without all of the required GHS components, is the label ok because it comes from the manufacturer? Do you have to upgrade the container? Explain your answer thoroughly, and cite any references.
  5. Over time oily and greasy containers, paint containers, or items used very often may have labels that are degraded and cover the GHS label requirements. How would you deal with this occurrence? Explain your answer thoroughly, and cite any references.
  6. If you have a material that does not have an SDS but poses hazardous qualities, do you still consider it a hazardous material and train your employees on its hazards? Give an example with your response. Explain your answer thoroughly, and cite any references.
